Who are Penns Woods Painters (PWP)? It’s simple really, friends who love to paint and share in the joy of decorative art!

We all have different skill levels, and experiences, preferences, and gather together to paint and learn about painting. While we are the south central PA chapter of the (international) Society of Decorative Painters (SDP), we have members from throughout the  mid-atlantic region.

We believe that everyone can learn to paint! Our members include experienced teachers, casual hobbyists, and some new to decorative painting. We have a great time learning: new mediums, techniques, approaches,  brushes, new possibilities!

Some folks like oils, some prefer watercolors, some focus on acrylics, mixed media or colored pencil – all techniques and media are welcome in our world.

Check out our calendar to see what activities are coming up, which include the bi monthly member meeting, Paint-Ins taught by our own members and Seminars.  Our seminars are taught by nationally known guest instructors, some of whom have included Ros Stallcup, Sandy Scales, Judy Diephouse, Shara Reiner and coming soon, Beth Wagner.

Penns Woods Painters are active in various service projects throughout our community.  Our members have participated in face painting at children’s events, provided painting lessons and have donated hand painted items for auctions to benefit the local public television station, local garden clubs, Sertoma Hearts n Hands chapter and Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital Ronald McDonald House, among other organizations. We’ve even had ornaments displayed ate the White House!  Penns Woods partners with the Memory Box Program to provide hospitals with hand painted boxes which are given by the hospital to grieving parents.

We look forward to you joining us and hope to see you at our next meeting – check out our calendar to see when we are meeting next!
