Penns Woods Painters provides for and participates in several different types of activities throughout the year:

We have a strong Community Service presence, supported by our participation in several activities.  We provide hand painted boxes for the (national) Memory Box program as well as our affiliation with Caitlin’s Smiles for whom we provide hand painted Treasure Boxes.  We participate in the PA CYS Children’s Christmas Party, each December, helping the children with a painting-related activity.  We have also provided hand-painted ornaments used to decorate Christmas Trees at Messiah Village.  In addition, we have participated in several Harrisburg Symphony Showhouse fundraisers!

At each of our meetings, we provide a painting-related program.  For our Saturday Meetings, usually held in January, May and September, the programs generally run from the end of the meeting through the afternoon.  For our Monday evening Meetings, usually held in March, July and November, we have shorter programs, including our annual ornament exchange in November.  Depending on the project, PWP may charge a nominal fee for supplies.

In between our bi-monthly meetings, PWP includes 4 full additional Paint-In days of painting for our members.  These Paint-In days are limited to PWP members in good standing.  The projects are submitted by and taught by our members.  These days are usually held in February, June, August and October, with the February Paint-In traditionally reserved for painting Memory Boxes.  Except for the Memory Box Paint-In, the fee for a Paint-In is $20, which is split with the member who teaches.   Each member is responsible for their own surface and paints for most Paint-Ins, with the exception being the Memory Box Paint-In in February.

Additionally, PWP hosts Seminars, which are taught by nationally or internationally known decorative artists.  Seminars are usually a 3 day event, comprised of one- and two-day projects.  The fees for the Seminars are determined based on the fee that PWP contractually agrees to pay the artist. Attendees are responsible for their own surfaces, but, usually, the colors needed for the projects are donated by a color company.  Seminars are open to those who are not members of PWP.  Members of the Mid-Atlantic States Chapter Council member chapters also pay member rates;  all others will be charged slightly higher non-member rates.   Registration fees are non-refundable.
